Tigers
Tigers (Panthera tigris): Tigers are the largest members of the cat
family and are native to Asia. Two major subspecies are the Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) and the Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris).
Siberians measure 1.4 to 2.8 m (4.6 to 9.2 ft) long, not including the 69 to 95 cm (27 to 37 in) tail and weigh 180 to 306 kg (400 to 675 lbs). It has yellow-orange fur with dark
vertical stripes.
Bengals, which are about 3 m (10 ft) in length including the tail, usually weigh in from 180 to 258 kg (400 to 569 lbs). It's coat is flatter, the tawny colour richer and the stripes darker. The tigers on the island of Sumatra are even smaller and darker.
