Tyger! Tyger! swift as light
On the shadows of the night,
What immortal, sleek and spry,
Could have such graceful symmetry?
On that distant isle of Fae
Did she nightly stalk her prey.
Then one eve did she inspire:
Forge the tyger from inner fire.
With her power and her art,
To shards of her did she impart
The will to live, a heart to beat,
Paw to strike upon their feet.
Among the mortals did she send,
With jungle shadows did they blend.
Their beauty praised in myth and song.
Martichora's children, sleek and strong.
When Oberon threw out his peers
Onto Earth to spend their years,
How she smiled her kin to see.
Once more with the cats to be.
Tyger! Tyger! Swift as light
Through the shadows of the night.
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare forge such deadly symmetry?
